Equipment can be expensive. Materials run out. Some experiments are too risky—or too difficult to set up—for every student to repeat. A virtual lab gives learners more opportunities to practise without using physical equipment or materials each time.

Students adjust variables, observe results and try again in a simulated environment. It can prepare them for a physical lab or extend practice beyond it. Interactive courses guide learners through ideas and decisions; virtual labs let them investigate how a process or system behaves.

Virtual lab simulations
for university learning.

Crownzcom was commissioned by an education technology provider to develop simulations for two universities, spanning human anatomy and irrigation systems engineering.

HUMAN ANATOMY

A closer look at
complex concepts.

We developed anatomy simulations, including exercises with simulated X-rays for students to examine and interpret.

Informal feedback on the anatomy work highlighted its potential to make difficult topics easier to understand. People reflected on how resources like these could have helped during their own studies.

IRRIGATION SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

A different subject.

At a second university, our simulation work focused on irrigation systems engineering—bringing a different technical subject into a virtual learning environment.

Together, these projects show how simulation design can be adapted to different disciplines and teaching needs.
